Getting Your Song Lyrics on Amazon Music 101

Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Lana Del Rey, Dean Lewis, Zayn Malik - they are not just supremely talented musicians, but they are KNOWN for their amazing songwriting skills. The lyrics of the songs they have made, bring back listeners time and again because the lyrics can be read online along with streaming the track on different platforms.

If you want to be one such musician, getting your song lyrics on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music becomes very important.

In this simple guide, we’ll tell you how to upload your song lyrics on Amazon Music.

Make sure your song is on Amazon Music

It’s rather obvious, but the very first step is to ensure that your song is on Amazon Music, that is, it is distributed to Amazon Music through the music distribution company you’ve signed up with. You can’t upload your songs independently, on your own, so you have to sign with a distribution company.

MusixMatch

1. You’ll have to create an account on MusixMatch. Now for Spotify and Apple Music, you can get it done by yourself, but for Amazon Music, this procedure is most likely done by the publishing company you have signed up with. Your distributor will make an account for you and follow the steps we have enlisted below.

2. Once your basic details have been filled, you will have to get your account verified, since you’d have an artist account.

Pssst…come here: To help claim your artist account to be verified, CD Baby, a distribution company has already set up a lyrics service partner. You could claim your account through CD Baby (if you have signed with them), and then, you could take ownership of the lyrics on social media platforms such as Instagram Stories, and streaming platforms such as Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, and Shazam.

3. Once you are in, connect Amazon Music to MusixMatch.

4. Play your song.

5. You will find a tab called ‘Add Lyrics.’ Click on that and you should be able to copy and paste your lyrics or type in your lyrics in the box that opens up.

6. Once you are done adding your lyrics, click on the ‘Save’ tab.

Syncing lyrics via Desktop

  1. You can time-sync your lyrics on a desktop, through the MusixMatch Pro webpage.
  2.  You should be able to find a three-dot tab for every song that you added your lyrics to on MusixMatch. Make sure you have your audio file (MP3 format) already uploaded on Musixmatch.
  3. You will get two options: ‘Edit’ and ‘Sync.’
  4. Click on ‘Sync.’
  5. Click on the right timing for each line of your lyrics while you play your audio file simultaneously.
  6. You can adjust the timing, by using the (+) and (-) or (^) and (v) signs that you can see towards the left.
  7. Once you are done, click on 'Save.'

Syncing lyrics via Mobile App

  1. Download the MusixMatch match on your mobile.
  2. Sign in with the registered email ID, the one in which you have a verified artist account.
  3. Search your uploaded song. Select it.
  4. Click on the tab ‘Contribute’
  5. That will open an option to sync lyrics. Click on ‘Sync.’
  6. You will get two options. You could either sync it line by line or word by word.
  7. If you want to sync line by line, scroll through once. Play your track as well. Get a general idea.
  8. Always set the timing for the first letter for each line half a second before.
  9. For instrumental bridges that have no vocals/lyrics (for more than 5 seconds), add an instrumental label and sync the following line accordingly.
  10. Scroll up and down to sync your lyrics with your song line by line.
  11. In case you messed up a few times, you could restart your syncing.
  12. MusixMatch says that the community mobile application offers the artist to sync word by word. Swipe your device to point out the lyrics along with the music as you sync them word by word. Clicking ‘Back’ will take you right back to the preceding line, so you can adjust the sync.
  13. Click on ‘Save’ once you are done.

And voila! Your song will be available to stream on Amazon Music with your lyrics in sync with your song!
